Congratulations to our April Artists of the Month!
🎨
Our 1st grade artist created a magical collage inspired by Romare Bearden, using soft pinks and graceful figures to weave together a dreamlike, emotionally rich scene. Her thoughtful composition and imaginative layering show an impressive grasp of visual storytelling.
🎨
Our 3rd grade artist brought a folk art landscape to life with vibrant color, intricate patterns, and a sandy texture reminiscent of Navajo art. Her piece radiates warmth and movement, reflecting a deep appreciation for culture and tradition.
🎨
Our Middle School artist’s collage pays tribute to Romare Bearden and the spirit of the Harlem Renaissance. With rhythmic repetition, bold layers, and strong visual balance, his work feels both grounded in history and fresh with personal expression.
🎨
Each of these students has demonstrated not only artistic skill but also heart, creativity, and vision. Congratulations, artists! We are so proud to highlight your talent and dedication!

Meet Stacey King, one of our dedicated Junior Kindergarten teachers at PES! With nearly 30 years in education - and 17 of those focused on JK - Stacey brings a deep passion for early childhood learning and a heart for every child she teaches. She’s a lifelong learner herself, always exploring new research and engaging in professional development, including the PES-sponsored IDMI training.

Stacey’s greatest joy is teaching Junior Kindergarten, where her creativity and care shine every day. One classroom favorite is the annual JK Zoo project each March - a hands-on, joyful experience that brings learning to life for her students.

Beyond the classroom, Stacey values building connections across all grade levels. She also serves as a Girls on the Run coach, encouraging young girls to grow into confident, capable leaders.

At home, Stacey and her partner Joe love to travel with their blended family - Johann (a proud PES lifer), and daughters Emma and Sophia. This summer, they’re off on a family adventure to Sweden and Norway!

We’re so grateful for the warmth and wonder that Stacey brings to the heart of our school.

Our Junior Kindergarten explorers took learning outside last week with a visit to the McDowell Nature Center.

As part of their unit on animals and their habitats, students participated in the “Slimy and Scaly” program, where they discovered the differences between reptiles and amphibians—and even met a few scaly (and adorable) friends from our own backyard, like a corn snake and a toad.

They wrapped up the day with a walk through the preserve, putting classroom learning into real-world context. It was a hands-on and hearts-full day of learning for our youngest Gryphons.
